Word Portraits by Margot Braswell

1) E has a heart shaped face with small features, a light complexion furrowed with worry, framed by shoulder length, silky, salt and pepper hair.  She is quick witted and a great writer, a poet.  Her powerful and somewhat dark work comes from a deep understanding of life and the slight boundary between extremes.

2) Weird thing is, I’m not sure how to spell your whole name, so I’ll just call you “MA.” Another heart shape face on a light complexion with dark eyes, dark hair, a longish Italian nose and a wicked wit.  A portrait of MA would have to show intensity, wit, humor, loyalty and strength.

3) Sweet Lorraine is opinionataed, sassy, and smart.  Her face is an oval, and she has a full voluptous look about her.  Bakers chocolate comes to mind when I think of Lorraine  because she’s not sweet, but she is strong and a necessary ingredient to the success and flavor of anything she’s involved with.

4) A portrait of L would have to be statuesque sculpture. She’d be better carved from stone than drawn.  Not many people know the real L, smart and nurturing.  To many she may seem like she is not paying attention, not true.  Nothing gets by L.  There is wisdom behind her dismissal of you.

5) To me he seems to be a good man, a good husband to his wife, a good employee and a good friend, just not a very good wizard.  His voice, sonorous, is great for radio.  To draw him, you would have to get his full lips just right.  They are his best feature.

6) I  know secrets about him that would make me draw him differently than others.  He knows secrets about me that would make him draw me differently than most who know me.  We know each other’s secrets, but the line in the sand between knowing more is definate.  I couldn’t draw him from memory.

7) She is beautiful.  She is terse.  She is a grandmother! She is a newsaholic and  she has a funny giggle that surprises me.  She is distinguished and she is  short.  She is very smart and honors me with her friendship.    A portrait of S would have to have white hair and soulful eyes.

8) Think Terrence Howard with dark eyes and shorter hair, with a definite air of gentle strength A portrait of B would have to be in soft  brownish and red and orange colors with a bold frame;  a fellow with dignity, purpose, a great sense of humor, who always has time to say hello.

9) T, what to say about T?  My favorite Republican, because he could make sense of the issues for me?  He says I am his favorite Mother Jones. I heard a tip on a British TV show, “Never trust an Irishman with ginger eyelashes.” I think he’s German, but he looks a little Irish.

10)  One of the most friendly fellows I know, open, witty... but I  often think he might have a secret, like the  Sphinx. Or maybe just a typical guy.  He has an oval face of full proportions, not yet fat, just nice cheeks.  He keeps his hair very short, sometimes even goes boldly bald.

11)  Pony-tailed parrot head with a Chrysler gangster looking car, what's it called, oh, yes, a PT Cruiser. B is a PT Cruiser.  A little on the stout side, but not fat.  A little on the abrupt side, but never rude.  A good employee, a glutton for detail, and an all 'round nice fellow.
